Re: Baixistas do Jamiroquai
Entrevista com Paul Turner (Atual baixista)
Who would be your biggest bass inspiration?
It's impossible for me to say one as I have so many. I suppose the players I listened to most when I was practising most would be Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller and James Jamerson. I also drew huge inspiration from Larry Graham of Sly & GCS, Rocco Prestia of Tower Of Power, Paul Jackson of The Headhunters, Nate Philips of Pleasure, Barry Johnson, Mark Adams of Slave, Bernard Edwards of Chic, Norman Watt Roy of The Blockheads and UK session great Pino Palladino plus loads of other great players. My main influences were generally from jazz, funk and R&B, but I have rock influences like Andy Frazer, John Paul Jones and Macca of course. Inspiration wise it would probably be Jaco for his genius in composition as well as his playing, Larry Graham for his whole vibe and Pino for his ability to ALWAYS play creatively in whatever the genre.
What made you choose the bass guitar?
A local guitar hero was teaching a friend of mine who had a guitar and he suggested I get a bass. We later formed a band with the same guy and started gigging.
If you could give any advice to young people about making it big as a bass guitarist what would it be?
Listen, Practice, listen, practice. Don't look for short cuts. The old saying of "it's not what you know, it's who you know" isn't true. That may get you a chance but then you still have to be good enough to take the opportunity. Play with lots of people in different styles and situations as there is something to learn in every situation. With bass it is essential to groove and have good feel. That doesn't mean you have to be busy, but to help the music feel good.
Are there any particular genres of bass you prefer playing?
Funk and soul, but I enjoy music that is emotional and sincerely enjoy most genres if the songs and music are good.
After touring independently with Annie Lennox what made you want to join the band in 2005?
Working with Annie was and is a special experience because she is an amazing singer who's written amazing songs and is a mind blowingly amazing performer to share a stage or studio with. She is also a special person, so it was a privilege. Stylistically Jamiroquai have always been the band that covered everything I love in music and playing so it was a dream opportunity. I first saw the band in 1993!
Out of a CD collection which CD do you listen to the most?
Oh man....... tough. Well I suppose I have to own up to still listening mainly to old stuff, 70's funk, r&b and jazz. Bands and players I mentioned earlier like Stevie, Curtis, Pleasure, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, Miles but also The Beatles to Led Zeppelin.

Re: Baixistas do Jamiroquai
Biografia do Paul Turner:
PAUL TURNER - new bassist of Jamiroquai
Paul was born in Sunderland, grew up in the quiet Isle Of Man and since leaving in 1987 has made as much noise as possible!
He cut his teeth with soul singers like Ruby Turner and Edwin Starr helping him to groove into the world of rock n roll, funk n soul.
His released recording credits include Tina Turner, George Michael, Tom Jones, and Kylie Minogue.
As well as years of touring with covers/revue bands, unsuccessful original bands and very successful pop bands, his live credits also include the likes of Lamont Dozier, Mica Paris, Omar, Down To The Bone, Annie Lennox and now Jamiroquai.
He loves playing everything from funk to punk, but sadly still supports Sunderland Football Club!
We are proud to present the next interview with one of the funksters from Jamiroquai.
As you know, this time, as a member of Jamirotalk you had the opportunity to suggest your own questions for the interview. Due to the huge response and amount of submitted questions we were unable to ask Paul all of them but we hope that you will enjoy the interview whether your suggestions made the final cut or not!

Re: Baixistas do Jamiroquai
Stuart Zender:

Re: Baixistas do Jamiroquai
Nick Fyffe
Name: Nick Fyffe (esse é o meu predileto... hehe)
Born: October 14, 1972
Occupation: Bass guitarist. Lived the classic rock 'n' roll dream when he auditioned from nowhere for vacancy in funk band Jamiroquai and got the job.
Nick Fyffe (born 14 October 1972, Reading, England) is an English bassist, known for being an ex-bassist of British funk band Jamiroquai. He replaced Stuart Zender in 1999 with the release of the album Synkronized. He was in the process of applying to a Jamiroquai tribute band, when he got the offer to join Jamiroquai. Fyffe recorded and toured with the band until his departure in 2003.
Since his departure from Jamiroquai, Fyffe has been lecturing at various colleges, and played with the UK dance ensemble, The Shapeshifters. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 Fyffe took part in 'The Sunflower Jam', an annual live music charity event. Since the first event in 2006, he has played alongside Robert Plant, Deep Purple, Status Quo, and Bruce Dickinson.
He is an alumnus from Chichester College. He is related to the early 20th century entertainer, Will Fyffe.
In October 2009, Fyffe was picked to join thenewno2 (members Dhani Harrison, Jeremy Faccone, Jonathan Sadoff, and touring drummer Frank Zummo) on their US tour with the Australian rock band, Wolfmother.
Fyffe played on thenewno2's first album, You Are Here, along with Harrison and fellow founding member Oliver Hecks.

Andrew Levy is the bassist for the British funk band The Brand New Heavies.
"They are back with a vengeance." So said The Hollywood Reporter's Craig Rosen in his glowing May 7, 2006 review of The Brand New Heavies sizzling performance at the legendary Roxy Nightclub in Los Angeles. In the early 1990s, the London-based Brand New Heavies created a musical movement by bringing soul music back to live instrumentation and impassioned vocals. Sassy, soulful and emotive, vocalist N'Dea Davenport, guitarist Simon Bartholomew, drummer/keyboardist Jan Kinkaid and bassist Andrew Love Levy built their sound around the music they loved: classic American funk and soul music. The bands infectious grooves and inspiring songs -- including 'Never Stop,' 'Stay This Way' and 'Dream On Dreamer' -- set in motion a 1990s musical revolution that permeates throughout the neo-soul sound of today.
The Heavies triumphant return marks the reemergence of one of the most innovative, influential R&B and funk groups of the last 15-plus years. In the mid-1980s, after bonding over their love of American funk and soul music, notably James Brown and the Meters, Bartholomew, Kinkaid and Levy formed the Brand New Heavies as an instrumental outfit. A few years later, the group found its voice with the addition of Davenport. In 1991, the group scored a No. 3 R&B hit with 'Never Stop,' a highlight from its self-titled debut album. The groups second album, 1992s "Heavy Rhyme Experience: Vol. 1," featured the group pairing with such red-hot rappers as Grand Puba, Kool G. Rap and Gang Starrs Guru, among others. The album solidified the groups standing in both the rap and R&B worlds. It made perfect sense, Kinkaid told the UKs Ilford Recorder of "Heavy Rhyme Experience" in April 2006. Hip-hop kids loved all the old samples and suddenly they could see this new band playing the funk just like they heard it on their old albums.
The groups third album, 1994's "Brother Sister," continued the momentum with big crossover hits 'Dream On Dreamer,' 'Midnight At The Oasis' and 'Back To Love.' A tremendous run of critical acclaim and four Top 20 hits -- 'Never Stop,' 'Stay This Way' (1991), 'Dream on Dreamer' (1994) and 'Sometimes' (1997) -- established the Heavies as a creative and commercial force whose influence helped birth the neo-soul movement, the acclaimed artistic explosion of the mid 1990s that included D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and a host of others.
Now that the group has reunited, its no wonder the new album is called "Get Used To It." The Brand New Heavies are back and as good as ever and Andrew is still rocking Warwick Basses and Amps!

Eles tem medidores de VU... são amps valvulados? a impressão que passa é que são amps dos antigos ou modelados para se parecerem com amps "vintages" se é que isso pode ser chamado...
Capturei algumas imagens do show... alguém teria como explicar esses equipamentos?
Acho que ele tá usando esse amp aqui:

Equipo "top". Ademais, deve ter uns racks de efeitos, compressores valvulados rack (Avalon?!), Crossovers, e até afinador Korg de rack... Só coisa braba!
