Amigos, acabei de saber da notícia... O mundo do baixo está menor hoje...
"Donald "Duck" Dunn, o baixista dos lendários Booker T. & the M.G.’s, que ajudaram a moldar a música soul da década de 1960 e foram uma das primeiras bandas com elementos negros e brancos, morreu hoje em Tóquio, aos 70 anos de idade.
A porta-voz da sala de espectáculos Blue Note Tokyo, Miho Harasawa, disse à BBC que Dunn morreu na manhã de domingo (hora local) e não avançou mais pormenores. O seu amigo e colega Steve Cropper disse apenas que Dunn morreu durante o sono.
Donald Dunn nasceu em Memphis, no estado norte-americano do Tennessee, a 24 de Novembro de 1941, e começou a tocar baixo aos 16 anos de idade. No seu site oficial, percebe-se a modéstia de um dos baixistas mais famosos de sempre: "Peguei num ukelele quando tinha 10 anos e comecei a tocar baixo aos 16. Tentei tocar guitarra, mas tinha cordas a mais. Era muito complicado! Para além disso, cresci com o Steve Cropper [seu colega nos Booker T. & the MG's e um dos melhores guitarristas de sempre para a revista Rolling Stone]. Havia tantos bons guitarristas e ninguém precisava de mais um".

Vi a notícia e fiquei chateado. Precision é meu tipo de baixo favorito e considero o Duck Dunn como o "pai do jeito" de se tocar um Precision.
